Recipe Albums

So I've done (and still do) a lot of recipe card swaps over at scrapbook.com. The cards are 6x6 in size so you can't use a regular sized box to store them in. I ended up buying some awesome 6x6 2 ring albums from American Crafts that I can customize the cover!! I absolutely love these! I cover the cover with different papers and then add ribbons, flowers, buttons, letters...whatever!

I made one like this for a good friend as well. The brown and green are really pretty.

This one became one of my favorites. I absolutely loved the way it turned out with the red flower against the black, white, and cream!

I also did a fun Christmas dessert/goodies swap last season and wanted a cute album to put those cards in. This is what I came up with! I really love that holly patterned paper I used on the top!

If anyone would like an album like this, just let me know. I'd be happy to create one for you!

10 days to go!!

So the Richmond trip was nice. Johnny and I flew into Regan International in DC (where it did take a ridiculous amount of time to get our rental from Budget...horrible customer service) and then drove down to Richmond. I did see the Washington Monument and the Pentagon as we drove by!

Our hotel was nice and we had fun playing with the GPS system we rented with the car. It helped us find something interesting to do Saturday before the race - we went to the Museum of the Confederacy and took a tour of the White House of the Confederacy. Pretty interesting.

Then...it rained. Luckily not enough to cancel the race but it delayed the start. Our seats were good (right at the exit from the pits) and we weren't completely surrounded by smokers (there were only a couple in the vicinity so the smoke didn't make me sick). Then the race....this is usually a very exciting race. Not the case Saturday night. What a disappointment. I really am hating the new cars...they've taken the fun and excitement out of all the races.

Anyway, now that we're home we have Logan's 2nd birthday party this Saturday. Yay! We're doing a Sesame Street party this year since he's fallen in love with Elmo. Its so cute.

THEN...

We leave on the 27th for Disney! I am so excited!! I can not wait to see Logan's reaction to the Park. We're also going to Sea World and I think Johnny is more excited about that (or maybe its the bass fishing trip he's going to take one day?). I am absolutely bouncing off the walls in excitement!!

We Will Not Forget

I can't believe that 8 years ago RIGHT NOW I was stranded with my mom in the Kalispell airport after the horrendous terrorist attacks on this country. It saddens me that the present government wants people to forget that day.

AARRGHHH!!!

So, between trying to keep Logan occupied this morning, get him breakfast, get things pulled out to pack for our trip, and trying to get some ribs in the crock pot for dinner tonite, the phone rings.

It is the Best Western we had reservations at in Richmond. Their sprinklers broke and flooded several rooms...including the one we were to be in. They had to cancel our reservation but to call the Fairfield Inn next door because they'd spoken to them and the Fairfield would give us a good rate.

Sigh.

So I called Fairfield and the idiot at the front desk just sat there on the phone like "ughhhhhh...." then transferred me to the manager. Finally. So now we are booked at the Fairfield Inn and its only costing us about $20 more overall.

I hope this isn't an indication of how this weekend is going to go....

Busy, Busy!

Whew! Busy around here!

Johnny and I are going to the NASCAR race in Richmond this weekend, then Logan's party is next weekend!! Then we've got a Disney trip and a race home so Johnny can be in a wedding!! Get tired just thinking about it! Gotta get the house clean and spotless too since the in-laws will be staying here while we're gone.

Fun stuff, huh? :)

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL???

Yipee!! I know I am!!

UGA starts its season in Oklahoma this afternoon. Our starting QB has the flu but says he'll be playing. Guess we'll see how that turns out! Hope this is the beginning of a great season.

Fingers Crossed...

SO...

Spoke to the lady about pre-k at the church today. Hoping to get Logan in there and at a discounted rate. I really want him to start getting some interaction with other kids. I've got fingers crossed and sending prayers upstairs hoping something wonderful will happen. We can't afford it otherwise.

Moving Stuff

Probably going to move all personal and family stuff to this blog and leave the main one all about history and literature. This blog will be slowly put together as I put much of my attention into my main one. But keep checking back.
